You've probably heard about how much money can be made on eBay. With dreams of quickriches and easy money, you are probably ready to jump in with both feet right now! The best thing you can do if you are serious about making money with eBay, however, is to slow down. In fact, just stop for a minute.

Don't rush straight in. Take your time, and do it right. eBay has over 100 million members. Think about that number for just a minute or two. When you get your eBay business set up, that is how big your customer base will be instantly. 100 million people, 100 million people who are just waiting for you to get set up and running so that they can throw money at you! Well, not quite. It is true that there are over 100 million members, but at this point, they don't know that you exist.

In fact, no matter how well you do on eBay, most of them will never know that you exist. 100 million is a very large number. The most successful eBay sellers started out as buyers and you should too. This will give you a sense of how everything works. It will also show you how things are from the buyer's side of the fence.

Let's call this period of time ‘consumer research.’ You are literally studying how eBay works, from a customer's point of view. You may not realise this, but this eBay buyer experience will actually make you a much better seller right from the very start. Really pay attention to the customer service you receive from the buyer.

Firepow Review

For those of you that already have an website and a product, service or affiliate program that you market no matter how big or small you can always benefit from further traffic. It's generating the traffic on a consistant basis that is the key.

Enter Andrew Hansen's Firepow

I feel there are so many different ways in which I could make a review of Andrew Hansen's blogging software Firepow. I thought I might focus here on one particular element of the program which I consider to be particularly intregal to the success of any blogger, namely, the ability to drive traffic to their blog.

 

If you've ever started a blog, or any form of website trying to earn some cash, you'll know it's not exactly a case of "if you build it they will come". Even a great blog doesn't guarantee traffic and a major part of a bloggers focus has to be spreading the word about their blog in a variety of ways in order to continually increase traffic and profits.

I could have talked about the blog creation and management aspects of Firepow, which I know so many new online marketers and bloggers will find so valuable. But for me, I'm more concerned about how the program can help a user increase traffic and make more money.

Anyway, that said I thought I'd make a brief mention of some such features of the program in order to open your eyes to the ways this program might be as much a benefit to you as it is for me.

The first thing I like is the ability the user has to easily generate backlinks to their blog once it's up and running. When you start a new blog, you want enough search engine spider juice to your site to have it able to rank well for long tail uncompetitive keywords, purely by on page optimisation, within a few days of being created.

Furthermore, if you focus on search engine traffic you'll know about the importance of link building in locking in long term rankings. Initial spider juice can get you a quick ranking, but for a LASTING ranking, you need an assortment of relevant quality backlinks establishing your page as an authority on that keyword.

Adding Google Adsense to is also a breeze and is a quick way to further monetize your site.

Firepow has that more than covered, giving you the ability to obtain links from social networks, blog comments, and in content links from Firepow's own network of high PageRank blog sites as well. I stress that even what I've mentioned here isn't close to all of the tools Firepow gives you to drive traffic to your site. And it's for that reason among many that I have no hesitation in recommending all my blog readers to check it out for themselves.

The current economic downturn has meant that even more people are looking at alternative ways of making money. Jobs are still being shed on a daily basis and although the govement say they see the green shoots of recovery it still is not too apparent for those that live in the real world, ie. you and me!

With local jobs drying up tens of thousands of people have turned to the internet as a way of generating extra income. This is a great way to make some extra cash as there are virtually no limits on income, or restrictions on where you can sell or market your services.

Many people are sick and tired of dealing with major companies and random lay-offs they have already taken the decision to earn a full living working completely from home. You simply never know when it might be your turn to go. So to start a part time enterprise even whilst in full time employment still makes sense, so if one is unfortunate to lose their main source of income they still have money coming into the family household.

There are several ways one can go about this. Some people choose to start their very own Internet business which can most likely be run from home.

While others use Adsense, eBay and Amazon and make cash off of daily web traffic. People are making considerable amounts of money every month using just these programs, but there are many more affiliate programs and multi-level-marketing programs that require little or no outlay to get started.

One major point to remember is to void product pitches that guarantee riches. You can find all the crucial information you need for starting an online business, building websites and earning adsense revenue, or selling products via auctions, just by scouring the web. Begin by contemplating how you want to start making money online and what aspect of web-business you'd excel at. The more time and effort you put into your online money-making venture, the more turn over and profits you'll surely see.

If you already have an Internet presence then you are part way there already. Event Suppliers: They Can Make Or Break An Event

 

You have to be careful when you are trying to plan a great event. You need to make sure that you are using the right vendors that are there to help you.  There are many different people out there that want to take your money and you need to make sure that you are protecting yourself your clients and your event if you decide to use them.

Planning the perfect event for any reason is something that anyone wants to do.  It is not always easy, however it is something that you have to take seriously because you will want to make sure that you are getting the most for your money. You want to get the most for your money, but yet still put on a great event.

Shop around for prices on what you need. For example, if you need fifty table clothes, don't get them at the first store that you come to, call at least three suppliers and ask their prices on that same item.

That item could be just £1 cheaper at another store, and shipped free, compared to paying £1 more for each table clothe and to have to pay shipping as well.

Look for items that you can reuse at other events. For example, go back to the back to the table clothe order. Will you be able to launder the items, cheap, and reuse them again at another event? This is a good idea is you are going to be an event planner or put on a lot of different events in the next few months or years.  Continued Below.....

Event Planning Continued.....

While it could be a little more costly up front instead of using paper, you have to look at the number of times you can use these table clothes, and the price you would pay each time if you were to use paper. Remember, savy affairs and events are not the place for paper anyway, so you might end up buying paper table clothes for four events, and then still have to purchase those linens for another event.

A supplier can make or break your event, just by not showing up. You need to keep a list of supplies, that are local so that just in case you find your supplier doesn't ship or doesn't show, you can purchase what you need, without waiting. You always need a backup plan. For example, the 125 paper table clothes you orders online that are blue and green, can you get them anywhere else locally, within fifty miles, even if it costs more?

If your supplier doesn't show, or doesn't ship and it is the day of the event, you need to send someone to your backup, and get what you need. Don't let anyone hold you up from being successful.

Hold people to their contracts, to what you ordered. If you ordered 100 green cloth napkins and 40 black napkins for centre pieces, and your shipped the products but in backwards amounts, call the supplier. Tell them you want a big discount or you are going to refuse to accept the shipment. Make your point known. If you have to put up with items that are wrong, then get a discount; get money back on the overall deal. Make it or break it, that is all a name of the game. You can be strong with vendors, remember you are paying their bill and you don't have to pay for what is right. Make the vendor or supplier work for your money.

You should avoid vendors and suppliers who are always running late. Avoid suppliers that do not deliver what you order, and in the quantities that you always order. Keep a running list of suppliers that will put you on top of everything from forks, to tables, to food, to lighting and candles. Always know where you bought the item last, and at least one other supplier for that item so your events will 'go off' without a hitch.

GREAT BOOK FOR NEW CATERERS

I am a recent (less than a year that I created my company) caterer from Spain. I have found Denise's information very well structured with many tips (checklists, real examples, concrete answers to common errors, etc) and many references for further reading (websites, books, etc).

It is true that part of the information is US specific (for example rules and regulations on alcohol serving, legal aspects of the catering business, etc) but it is also useful to know.

It touches every aspect of catering - from writing a business plan, to marketing, setting prices, etc - in a simple yet comprehensive manner. I have not heard of Denise Vivaldo before but reading her book I can tell you that it gives you many concrete action items that can be applied to your catering and improve it (for example a Quality and Service Report to send to clients after the party).

Ms. V answers all the ??? you've had and then some!!!

After graduation from Culinary school, my heart leaned toward catering...had so many unanswered questions, until I read this book. I am now on my way. The book is written in a very informative way. The author makes you aware of many things that you would not even know, until you fall on your face!

How To Start a Home-Based Catering Business is a wonderful paperback for someone like myself. This book cintained the information I needed to get me on my way. It also confirmed information that I had, but was unsure of .

The book is clear, concise and well organized from start to finish. I felt confident enough, once reading it, to actually start my business. I often refer to the book as a reference manual to see if I am on the right track. I appreciate Denise for sharing many of her techniques and styles which helped me to upscale my business. She also taught me ways to seek out those who could help make my business great.

My inhibiton in starting my business was that my work would be ordinary. Using this book as my guide, along with my imagination, I went immediately from ordinary to extraordinary. So far my customers have been very pleased.
